2. sorry, but the location of your parents home does not compare to a devastated city. no offense, in regards to scale and umm...importance, there's no comparison.
3. House panel: Why did Google 'airbrush history?' POSTED: 9:39 a.m. EDT, March 31, 2007 NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Google's replacement of post-Hurricane Katrina satellite imagery on its map portal with images of the region before the storm does a "great injustice" to the storm's victims, a congressional subcommittee said. The House Committee on Science and Technology's subcommittee on investigations and oversight on Friday asked Google Inc. Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt to explain why his company is using the outdated imagery. The subcommittee cited an Associated Press r
4. i don't think dental records would help a lot of people in this particular case because of prior access to healthcare issues. and to my knowledge a few people have received funds to rebuild, but not some overwhelming majority...just certain areas. and the only refunds i've heard about were from people who either defrauded the system or the government somehow sent funds to them multiple times.
5. ok, so fema is trying to give evacuees options in terms of living location. so they are proposing placing families in military bases and state parks.....they couldn't come up with anything better than that?
6. as of yet, there hasn't been any report of the US accepting foreign aid.

9. He is truly THE MAN!!! "Put those cotdamn guns down".....Gen. Honore YOU TELL THEM!!! Did you see the NOPD and the State Police looking at him like "who is this man"....BUT THEY PUT THEM DAMN GUNS DOWN THOUGH!!!! 971683 them white NOPD officers didn't want none from that creole man.
10. for Gen. Honore telling those soldiers and police officers to stop pointing their weapons at evacuees. I'm sure he's using some choice words behind closed doors for Blanco and anyone else who suggested people be treated with such hostility after losing everything. That man brought tears to my eyes...finally someone is standing up for those folks.
11. I think I heard that. Were they Australian Tourists? 968304 No, she was from Maryland. She said they were told 8 buses would be coming to pick them up but luckily 18 showed up. She also said since they knew they would be walking through contaminated water in order to get to the buses so one of the physicians in the group "commandeered" some antibiotics from the Walgreens for them. Oh yeah, the 18 buses had police escorts too. 968676 you know i was i watching that thinking "something aint right"...same thing happened with a prof from austin who wa
12. omg......this just makes me feel even better about not traveling to GA this weekend. we would have had to go through jackson at some point. thank God i listened to my gut. and i totally agree with Nagin. I felt his frustration and anger. Kudos to him for putting the feds on blast.
13. UPDATE: people are now being allowed back into the astrodome. fire marshall's initially shut it down due to occupancy concerns. they were fearing over crowding. but it's been settled and people are being let into the dome. but outside of the dome there are houstonians meeting people off the buses and opening up their homes to them. people can say what they want about the city of houston. but you cannot say we aren't a charitable bunch when it counts.
14. 966338 good point...but lemme play devil's advocate. maybe they have to shoot and kill some of these animals first or at least to start off with. so they can get the aid and buses to the good people waiting to evacuate. it's kind of hard to get folks out if you gotta dodge bullets from a sniper. it's such a complicated situation. but no doubt these guards should have been on the ground monday night/tuesday mornin.
15. well, it's not the only place in the city accepting people. a lot of churches and just everyday people have opened up their homes to folks. and i'm almost sure some of those buses will bypass houston and head to san antonio, austin and dallas to kind of even things out.
